BBL 2019 Match Prediction: Brisbane Heat vs Melbourne Stars

December 20

Carrara Oval, Queensland

The 5th match of Big Bash League 2019-20 will see Brisbane Heat lock horns with Melbourne Stars.

Brisbane Heat are coming on the back of a 29-run loss against Sydney Thunder in their opener. Meanwhile, Melbourne Stars come into the Big Bash League 2019-20 aiming to go one better than BBL 2018-19 runners-up finish. They have seriously strengthened their squad to have another real push to win the tournament this time around.

Brisbane Heat performance in Big Bash League:

Skipper Chris Lynn, wicket keeper Tom Banton and experienced Max Bryant will need to step up after their poor performance in the Big Bash 2019-20 opener. They need to provide a quick start.

Meanwhile, Ben Cutting will be hoping to improve his average all-rounder performance. He scored 28 runs and picked up a wicket.

The bowling attack showed much more promise compared to last year with Swepson leading the way with 2/11 from his two overs and that will give them some confidence for Big Bash League 2019-20 as bowling was clearly a weakness last year, while they will likely name an unchanged team here.

Melbourne Stars performance in Big Bash League:

Dale Steyn has been ruled out for the game with side strain. Pakistan’s Haris Rauf has been selected as a replacement.

They will be hoping for Ben Dunk to carry his stunning form from the Mzansi Super League (MSL) into BBL 2019-20 to help them make a quick start. Meanwhile, skipper Glenn Maxwell and Nic Maddinson are both set to feature despite taking some time away from the game in recent months.

While their bowling was a major weakness last year, they have brought in South African star Dale Steyn who will be available for the opening six matches as well as signing Nathan Coulter-Nile who will be a key addition to this side.

Sandeep Lamichhane and Pat Brown add yet more quality to the bowling attack that already features Adam Zampa and it looks extremely promising for the Stars this year although they will eventually lose Stoinis, Zampa and Maxwell to international duty later in the tournament.
