The 33rd match of Big Bash 2019-20 will see Adelaide Strikers take on Melbourne Renegades on Sunday.

Melbourne Renegades have played eight games so far and lost all of them. They have batted first in most games but even in the games, they’ve chased the Renegades haven’t been able to succeed even once. In the last couple of games, the batting has got in excess of 160 but then the bowlers didn’t respond well. The batting and bowling haven’t clicked together and it isn’t looking good for them.

Meanwhile, Adelaide Strikers have had an average season so far. They started the tournament really well. The first game was washed out before they won three games in a row but they went on to lose three on the bounce. All of these three losses were pretty close encounters.

Adelaide Strikers will be without star player Alex Carey who has departed for India for the three-match ODI series. Hence, there are likely to be a couple of changes. 

Travis Head will return to lead the side and Harry Nielsen might don the gloves. He might replace the out-of-form Matthew Short. 

Philip Salt has blown hot and cold at the top of the order. Meanwhile, Jake Weatherald has been consistent as the left-handed opener has scored 266 runs from seven innings.

Meanwhile, Jonathan Wells has been excellent. He has scored 234 runs at an average of 78.00 and has a strike-rate of 134.48. 

Head’s inclusion boosts the middle-order and he’s been in decent form as well. Rashid Khan has been very good with both bat and ball. He has a strike-rate of 188.88 with the bat while he’s been the best bowler for Adelaide Strikers.

The Afghan superstar has taken 12 wickets and is striking once every two overs. Peter Siddle has also been good with the ball. The veteran Aussie pacer has picked up seven wickets at an economy of 7.18.

Performance in Big Bash League: Melbourne Renegades

Aaron Finch missed the last game as he has traveled to India for the three-match ODI series. Daniel Christian is leading the team in his absence. Their batting has been inconsistent. 

Marcus Harris has been disappointing at the top of the order while Sam Harper has blown hot and cold. He has a strike-rate of 153.54 but averages just 24.37. Shaun Marsh has been consistent at No. 3 but he hasn’t really converted his starts to big knocks. The left-handed batsman has made 298 runs from eight innings in this BBL.

Meanwhile, Beau Webster has been good in the middle order and is the second-highest run-getter (261 runs) for the Renegades this season. 

With the ball, Kane Richardson has the most wickets for a Renegades bowler in this tournament. He has taken 10 wickets but he hasn’t had much support from the other end. 

The likes of Christian, Cameron Boyce and Richard Gleeson haven’t really come good.
