Caribbean Premier League 2019 Match Prediction: Jamaica Tallawahs vs St Kitts and Nevis Patriots

Jamaica Tallawah’s performance so far during CPL 2019:
The general strategy towards Chris Gayle has been to attack him with spin, and that is precisely where St Kitts lack compared to Guyana. Guyana boast of Tahir, Malik, Qais and Shabad Khan. St. Kitts have Ottley and Shamarh Brooks to throw against Gayle, which is why, in the last match, Gayle made merry – scoring 116 off just 62 balls before Allen made the breakthrough. Chadwick Walton has also had a good tournament so far. These 2 will be the ones to watch out for in this CPL match.
Jamaica will surely take wickets. They’ve taken 15 in their last 2 matches – 6 of them against Guyana – which only 1 other team has been able to do. The ones who did the damage against Guyana were Dernback and Russel. Dwane Smith and Ramaal Lewis took a wicket apiece, and all of them were very expensive. Oshane Thomas has been drawing blanks of late and his poor form will continue. Oshane, Dernback, Zahir Khan and Lewis are sure to bowl, but given Zahir’s performance against Barbados (he took 3/20 in his 4), he will take wickets again tonight.
St Kitts’ performance so far during CPL 2019
They will stick with the tried and tested top order of Devon Thomas, Evin Lewis and Laurie Evans. Lewis has been in particularly good form, scoring 65 and 45 in his last 2 matches. Laurie Evans and Devon Thomas, on either side of him, have been struggling a bit. But the middle order has made up for at crucial times of the match – Hafiz and Braithwite can be expected to add 20+ scores each, and both are capable of being utterly dangerous. It was Braithwite’s 64 off 30 balls that gave the platform for St Kitts to tie the match against Trinbago. Expect them to score 180+, but lose at least 5 wickets against a potent but expensive Jamaica bowling.
St Kitts don’t take wickets. Apart from the 4-for that Akeem Jordan took against St Lucia, there haven’t been any memorable bowling performances from them. Their weak-ish spin attack will probably see Chris Gayle hitting maybe a half century, or even a century if he is in the mood. It is the batting that will have to come to the fore today. Braithwite took 2 wickets against Trinbago in the last match, while Cottrell and Alzarri Joseph took 1 wicket each.

Pitch report for match prediction:
It’s a batting pitch, for teams that know how to bat. Teams have scored 200+ runs in a single innings on 3 occasions so far. 170+ scores have been recorded on 2 more occasions. Jamaica themselves hit 200+ against Trinbago in a lost-cause run chase. St. Kitts are not known for their bowling prowess: St. Kitts managed to scalp 5+ wickets only once in the tournament (vs Trinbago). Jamaica, on the other hand, have restricted opposition to less than 150 runs only once.
Today’s match toss prediction:
In each of their last 3 games, St Kitts won the toss and chose to field. In each of their last 3 games, Jamaica won the toss and chose to field. In every game, anyone who wins the toss chooses to field. It seems like the game in which Chris Gayle will dominate, as he did in the return fixture with a 116 off 62 balls. And with a more balanced and penetrating bowling attack than St. Kitts, they should be able to record just their 2nd win of CPL 2019.
