Mzansi Super League Today Match Prediction: Durban Heat vs Paarl Rocks

Mzansi Super League Today Match Prediction: Durban Heat vs Paarl Rocks

November 15, 2019,

Kingsmead, Durban

After a thumping win against Cape Town Blitz in the  Mzansi Super League 2019, Paarl Rocks will face Durban Heat in their 2nd game.

Meanwhile, Durban’s 1st game was washed away and their next two games against the Paarl Rocks on Friday and then the Cape Town Blitz on Sunday are also being threatened by severe weather warnings that have been issued in the province.

Heat’s captain Dane Vilas said there is little they can do as the east coast, a place where he has played his domestic cricket for a few seasons, generally experiences seasonal rain in November.

Durban Heat’s performance in MSL t20:

Alex Hales has been unpredictable in recent past but should be able to keep his place.

Daryn Dupavillion and Marco Jansen are struggling with knocks, and Durban Heat will be hoping that at least one of them recovers to play a part here.

Predicted playing XI: Alex Hales, Sarel Erwee, Dane Vilas (C & WK), Khaya Zondo, David Miller, Ravi Bopara, Andile Phehlukwayo, Malusi Siboto, Shaun von Berg, Keshav Maharaj, Kyle Abbott.

Paarl Rocks’s performance in MSL t20:

JP Duminy has been ruled out of the 2019 edition of the Mzansi Super League due to a hamstring injury he sustained in the lead-up to the team’s season-opener against Cape Town Blitz.

James Vince could be available for this match.

Rocks’ bowling unit was as effective as the batting line-up as Faf Du Plessis used six different bowlers, with each one of them taking at least one wicket, and all of them had economy rates of 5.66.

They are expected to stick to the same team.

Predicted playing XI: Henry Davids, Cameron Delport, Faf du Plessis (C), Dwaine Pretorius, Hardus Viljoen, Mangaliso Mosehle (wk), Isuru Udana, Ferisco Adams, Sibonele Makhanaya, Bjorn Fortuin, Tabraiz Shamsi.

Pitch and Weather prediction for today’s MSL t20 match:

It is bad news as heavy rains are predicted in Durban throughout the duration of this game of MSL t20. As it was in the first game, it shouldn’t be a wonder in case this game gets washed out.

The Kingsmead pitch isn’t the easiest one for the batsmen. Over the years, it has changed its character and has offered great support to the bowlers in recent times. With the weather as it is predicted to be, if there is play possible, the fast bowlers will enjoy their time. Chasing is a better option here.

Average first innings score: 142.5 (Last two full MSL games at Kingsmead)

Pitch and Weather prediction for today’s MSL t20 match:

  1. Chasing teams have won both the last games at the venue and don’t be surprised if it remains the same way.
  2. Tabraiz Shamsi picked up 3 wickets in Paarl Rocks’ last game and don’t be surprised if he is once again the standout bowler.
  3. Meanwhile, Bjorn Fortuin and Hardus Viljoen picked up 2 wickets each in the last game and with the pitch expected to assist the pacer, they are unlikely to go wicketless.
  4. It needed a run out to dismiss Faf du Plessis, not before he had scored 38 runs, in his last game and he might once again be among the runs.
  5. A refreshed and rejuvenated David Miller can be the key for Durban Heat. He is also a key fielder and don’t be surprised if he picks up a couple of catches.
