St.Kitts’ performance so far during CPL 2019
It seems like St.Kitts are still looking for a settled line-up. Kjorn Ottley and Evan Lewis opened the innings in their 1st 2 matches, while Devon Thomas replaced Kjorn Ottley in the next 2.
The middle-order is a game of musical chairs, with Mohammad Hafeez, Jason Mohammad, Devon Thomas, Carlos Braithwaite, Fabian Allen, Laurie Evans AND Shamarh Brooks failing to tie down the Nos 3, 4, 5 and 6 in the line-up. These 4 wickets put together have scored just 295 runs in the 4 matches. And they have gotten to bat, with St. Kitts losing 33 wickets in these 4 matches. Trinbago bowled them out in the 1st match.
Devon Thomas has top-scored with 135 runs and Laurie Evans is 2nd with 117 runs. Only they have managed some form.
The team management really needs to wake up! The bowlers have managed just 15 wickets between themselves in CPL. Cottrell leads the charts with 4 wickets, but he didn’t bowl in their last 2 matches. Rayad Emrit follows with 3 wickets, but he took all 3 in the 1st match vs Trinbago. Alzarri Joseph also has 3, and he has also been fairly consistent with the runs conceded, but he has taken more than a wicket in only 1 match. This is the bowling line-up which conceded 241 runs to Jamaica. Jamaica’s bowling was even worse, considering that they allowed St.Kitts to chase down that target.
Guyana’s performance so far during CPL 2019
Guyana have been solid, if not spectacular, scoring 155, 159 and 180 in their 3 innings. Chandrapaul Hemraj leads the way with 116 runs, having opened in all 3 innings. Joining him was Brandon King who has contributed 35 so far. So maybe one can expect a change there. The middle order has also been solid, with the big-names, Shoaib Malik and Shimron Hetmyer lending valuable support. Nicholas Pooran even notched a half-century against Barbados in their last match.
It is in bowling that Guyana have truly sparkled, taking 9 and 8 wickets each in their 1st 2 matches and then bowling out Barbados for just 133 in their last. All 3 of their matches were played at Providence Stadium, Guyana, though, and this will be their first test at Warner Park. Warner Park has hosted only 1 match – that between the Patriots and Jamaica – and this match was a record-fest, with both teams topping 240 runs in their respective innings. Expect Guyana to still manage wickets, but don’t expect the Patriots to get bowled out.
Leading the bowling charts is Shadab Khan, who has snaffled 7 in his 3 matches. Romario Shepherd is also on 7, but he took a 4-for in his last match vs Barbados. The only bowlers not to take wickets so far has been Odean Smith, but he bowled only 1 over. Apart from Shabad and Shepherd, Keemo Paul has 2, Chris Green has 3, Ben Laughlin has 3.

Pitch report for today match prediction:
Basseterre has hosted 2 matches so far, both involving the Patriots. One was, of course, the run-fest against Jamaica, and the other against Barbados. The Patriots managed to beat probably the only team with a worse bowling attack than them, Jamaica.
The match was more about who bowled the worst rather than who played the better cricket. When they came up against a better team than them, they promptly allowed them to score 186/2, while losing 9 wickets themselves for 168 in the ensuing chase.
The wicket is flat, it will allow batsmen to score, but it also has enough turn to help the spinners canny enough to take that help.
CPL 2019 Performance Summary
Guyana have swept aside their opponents in their 3 opening matches, and have the highest NRR due to 2 lopsided results against St.Kitts and Barbados.
St.Kitts, on the other hand, are closer to the bottom than the top, but by virtue of having played one match more than the bottom teams. That match, incidentally, was against the bottom team. They beat Jamaica by 4 wickets at Warner Park to avoid propping up the table themselves.
CPL Prediction: St Kitts vs Guyana Amazon Warriors
Today’s Cricket match prediction tips are based on the teams’ performances from all the matches of CPL 2019.
- Not depending on who is batting first, Guyana will take wickets
- The match will be high scoring, but don’t expect St. Kitts to top 200 against a well-honed Guyana bowling attack
- If Guyana bat first, then will post a 170+ total and then proceed to strangle the warriors
- The Patriots opening pair will exit, and exit fast
- Guyana will win and continue atop the table
- The Patriots will not take more than 5 wickets
