Brighton & Hove Albion vs Tottenham Hotspur
October 5, 2019,
Falmer Stadium, Brighton and Hove
For all the fantasy football geeks out there, we share prediction tips of league matches that will give them a better shot at predicting and winning. Starting with EPL 2019.
After some really shambolic results, including a 7-2 loss to Bayern Munich in the last game, Tottenham are seeking to avoid a full-blown crisis mode when they travel to Brighton this weekend. All is not well in Spurs’ dressing room either with reports Moussa Sissoko questioned Mauricio Pochettino’s tactics following the loss to Bayern Munich.
Meanwhile, Brighton still haven’t won in the English Premier League since the opening game of the season. But they might have sensed that this is the perfect opportunity to break that drought.
Squads and Predicted Lineups:
Shane Duffy is still out with a calf injury, while full-back Bernardo and Leandro Trossard remain sidelined.
Brighton and Hove Albion manager Graham Potter has confirmed that both Solly March and Alireza Jahanbakhsh will be available which means March will be pushing for a start.
Ezequiel Schelotto has recovered from a knee injury, but it remains to be seen when he will feature again.
Jose Izquierdo, Leon Balogun and Davy Propper also miss out.
Despite the defeat to Chelsea last week, Graham Potter could name an unchanged XI, sticking to the 3-5-1-1 formation.
Predicted XI: Mat Ryan; Adam Webster, Lewis Dunk, Dan Burn; Martín Montoya, Dale Stephens, Yves Bissouma, Pascal Groß, Steven Alzate; Aaron Mooy; Neal Maupay.
Serge Aurier is suspended following his red card in the 2-1 win over Southampton, with Davinson Sanchez set to get the nod at right-back.
Giovani Lo Celso (hip) and Ryan Sessegnon (hamstring) remain Tottenham’s only injury absentees, but Pochettino will surely make changes to his team after Tuesday’s drubbing.
Christian Eriksen started the 7-2 loss to Bayern from the bench, but should feature from the off here.
Spurs are likely to field 4-3-1-2 formation but a back three could also be the order of the day, with Moussa Sissoko or Danny Rose going into the midfield.
Predicted XI: Hugo Lloris; Danny Rose, Toby Alderweireld, Davinson Sanchez, Jan Vertonghen; Moussa Sissoko, Harry Winks, Tanguy Ndombele; Christian Eriksen, Harry Kane, Son Heung-Min.
Today’s Football Match Prediction:
1- Brighton are winless in all 4 of their English Premier League meetings with Spurs (Drawn 1, lost 3), losing both matches last season. Meanwhile, Spurs haven’t lost against Brighton in any competition since 1983. Even though Spurs are struggling, the end of this streak looks really difficult.
2- Brighton have lost just one of their last 19 Premier League games in October, losing away to Arsenal in 2017. And though they look unlikely to add to their tally of 10 wins, probably the best chance they have is to increase the number of draws in this month from 8 to 9.
3- Spurs have won just 22 points in their last 19 Premier League games, 12 teams have won more and it won’t be a surprise if they drop points again.
4- Tottenham have failed to win their last 9 away matches in EPL 2019 while Brighton have failed to win their last 8 home matches in the league. And barring any major surprises, Spurs might win the race to be better amongst the worst.
5- Tottenham have conceded at least 2 goals in their last 3 away Premier League matches but are up against a team which has scored just 5 goals, less than 17 teams.
6- There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 7 of Tottenham’s last 8 EPL games while there have been under 2.5 goals scored in 5 of Brighton’s last 6 Premier League home games. Given the defensive fragility of both the teams, along with Spurs attacking abilities – only 2 teams have scored more than them- it’s Spurs streak that is likely to stretch.
7- Only 4 players have created more chances in the Premier League this season than Brighton’s Pascal Groß – 17.
