English Premier League Match Prediction (EPL 2019): Liverpool vs Man United
January 19, 2020, Anfield, Liverpool
Liverpool take on Man Utd in PL on Sunday in what might prove to be a vital game, in their far-sighted pursuit of an unbeaten season, having had trouble negotiating Man United in the past despite their regression in recent years.
In fact, Man United are the only team who have taken points off Liverpool this season in the PL.
Regardless, a well-rested Liverpool side should be considered strong favourites on home soil to continue what is becoming a stroll to the PL title.
Liverpool are coming on the back of a 1-0 win over Spurs last weekend. Meanwhile, Man United beat Wolves in their FA Cup replay midweek to add to the 4-0 thrashing on Norwich last wk.
Liverpool performance in EPL 2019:
Jurgen Klopp should see welcome back defensive reinforcements in the coming weeks, with Dejan Lovren, Joel Matip and, crucially, Fabinho all back in training.
The match with Man United is still likely to come too soon for any of the three to start, while Naby Keita and James Milner are out.
Options in midfield remain somewhat limited, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Adam Lallana and Takumi Minamino vying for a place alongside Jordan Henderson and Gigi Wijnaldum.
The front 3 of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino are well rested and ready to fire.
Man United performance in EPL 2019:
The big concern as far as Man United are concerned is the fitness of Marcus Rashford, who is a major doubt have managed just 16 minutes as a second half substitute in midweek due to a back injury. He is their top scorer in the PL with 14 goals. In fact, he was scored more goals than Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
The striker is just the latest in a long line of potential absentees, leaving Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with very little opportunity to rotate his squad, though Andreas Pereira may come in for Mason Greenwood from midweek.
The absentees include Luke Shaw, Paul Pogba, Scott McTominay, Axel Tuanzebe and Marcos Rojo. Meanwhile, Eric Bailly is doubtful.
Liverpool vs Man United line-up:
