Tottenham Hotspur vs Bayern Munich

For all the fantasy football geeks out there, we share prediction tips of league matches that will give them a better shot at predicting and winning. Starting with EPL 2019.

Tottenham Hotspur will face Bayern Munich for the first time in the Champions League on Tuesday night as the German giants make the trip to the English capital.

Both teams are coming off the back of league victories and unless any major drama unfolds are the favourites to qualify for the next stage.

Squads and Predicted Lineups:

Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs allowed their 2-goal lead slip against Olympiacos in their Champions League Group B opener on September 18. The matches following that game didn’t do them any good either, with players and coach Mauricio Pochettino openly hinting that something is wrong within the club.

However, they managed to beat Southampton in the last game despite being a man down. The win would have likely boosted their confidence and games like these are the ones Spurs thrive on.

Spurs will be without Giovani Lo Celso (hip problem) and Ryan Sessegnon (hamstring issue). Son Heung-min was replaced in the 2nd half of Saturday’s clash with Southampton, but should be fit.

Christian Eriksen could keep his spot in a forward position, but Pochettino has plenty of options for change with Lucas Moura, Erik Lamela and Dele Alli all pushing for spots in the XI.

Spurs are likely to field a 4-3-3 formation.

Predicted line-up: Hugo Lloris; Serge Aurier, Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen, Ben Davies; Tanguy Ndombele, Harry Winks, Moussa Sissoko; Christian Eriksen; Son Heung-min, Harry Kane.

Bayern Munich

Like Tottenham, Bayern will enter this match off the back of a league win at the weekend. However, the win was not as convincing as they would have liked ahead of a game of such magnitude. They were poor in defence, something that would have given Harry Kane and Co. some hopes.

Niko Kovac’s side are now unbeaten in their eight matches since the German Super Cup, though, and have certainly not struggled for goals during that run – hitting three in four separate matches, in addition to a four and a six.

Leon Goretzka and Jann-Fiete Arp are sidelined through injury, while Ivan Perisic is a doubt after missing the clash with Paderborn through illness. David Alaba was back on the bench at the weekend and could start, while Philippe Coutinho, Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry should all feature in a forward position.

Thomas Muller and Javi Martinez are also pushing for starts, although the experienced pair might have to settle for spots on the bench once again. Kovac is expected to field a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Predicted line-up: Manuel Neuer; Benjamin Pavard, Niklas Sule, Jérôme Boateng, David Alaba; Joshua Kimmich, Thiago Alcântara; Serge Gnabry, Philippe Coutinho, Kingsley Coman; Robert Lewandowski.

With this, we move on to predicting which team will today’s match?

1-     Spurs have not faced Bayern since knocking them out in the 3rd round of the UEFA Cup in 1983, the last trophy they have won in Europe.

2-     Spurs have won each of their last 4 Champions League game against German opponents (all vs Borussia Dortmund) and 8 of their last 11 Champions League home games. However, it’s not going to be easy against a Bayern side who love to dominate their opponents.

3-     Bayern Munich are unbeaten in their 9 away Champions League games and given the turmoil Spurs are in the Germans might match their run of 10 unbeaten games, achieved between October 2012 and April 2014.

4-     Philippe Coutinho looks to have found his mojo back since moving to Bayern Munich. He has scored 2 goals and assisted another couple of goals in 6 games and given the fact that he has played plenty of games against Spurs, he might be in for a blockbuster game.

5-     Bayern have scored 10 goals in their last 3 games and it seems there’s no stopping Robert Lewandowski, who on Saturday became the first player in Germany to score 10 league goals in 6 games. He has scored more goals than the entire Spurs team (9) in domestic leagues so far this EPL 2019.

6-     Bayern have won just 1 of their last 5 games away to English clubs but are unbeaten in their last 8 domestic games.
