The 41st and penultimate game of BPL 2019-20 will see table leaders Chattogram Challengers take on third placed Rajshahi Royals on Saturday.

Chattogram Challengers registered a comfortable 7-wicket win over Rajshahi Royals in their last outing. They will be riding high to finish the league games on a high note.

Rajshahi Royals, still have a chance to finish in the top 2 and secure a place for qualifier 1 instead of an eliminator and will be keen to bounce back from their poor performance.

Chattogram Challengers performance in BPL 2019:

Chris Gayle has been quiet since joining the Challengers but a player of such stature can win the match single handedly and will be a key batsmen against the Royals.

The 39th match of BPL 2019-20 will see Dhaka Platoon take on Rangpur Rangers on Friday.

Dhaka Platoon has played good cricket in this year’s competition and managed to secure 12 points in 9 matches so far this season. However, Mashrafe Mortaza and co. will be looking to produce their best cricket in this must-win game.

On the other hand, Rangpur Rangers have failed to make an impact as a unit in BPL 2019-20. The side has no chance of qualifying for the playoffs but will be looking to end their campaign on a winning note.

The 38th match of BPL 2019-20 will see Dhaka Platoon take on Rangpur Rangers on Wednesday.

Dhaka Platoon and Rangpur Rangers are hanging in the middle part with their qualification still under question. Dhaka Platoon are the best placed among the other teams to qualify and a win in any of their three matches will take them to the next round.

But, Rangpur Riders are at the cliff and they need to win both their remaining matches and hope other results go their way to qualify. Rangpur Riders play both their matches against Dhaka Platoon and this might be a straight shootout for both teams to qualify.

Dhaka Platoon performance in BPL 2019:

Dhaka Platoon have won two consecutive matches after putting 170+ scores on board. Tamim Iqbal and Anamul Haque gave them a 45-run opening stand against Khulna Tigers. Mominul Haque then used the platform to steer the ship before Asif Ali and Ariful Haque ensured a fitting finish with fireworks, sharing a 54-run partnership off just 21 balls. Hasan Mahmud took 4 wickets to lead their charge with the ball.

Asif Ali had made scores of 39 & 55 in the last two matches at an unbelievable strike rate of 300 & 200 respectively. He has hit 8 sixes in the last two matches and is helping the team to get those extra 15-20 runs at the end.

Rangpur Rangers put a clinical performance against Sylhet Thunder to win the match. Skipper Shane Watson came up with a spirited 36-ball 68 alongside Mohammed Naim’s 42 runs in the match. 

Mohammed Naim has scores of 55, 24, & 42 in the last three matches and he helped his team to get a good score in powerplay overs. We expect him to give a rapid start in this match too. 

Cameron Delport, Mohammed Nabi, and Fazle Mahmud played some good cameos to take their team total to an impressive 199 runs. 

Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, and Lewis Gregory took 2 wickets each and gave easy runs for the opposition.  Mohammed Nabi and Cameron Delport chipped in a wicket each to complement their bowling attack. 

Mohammed Nabi had a good all-round match with a 17-ball 23 & a bowling spell of 4-0-27-1 to help the team. Nabi is an excellent player who can contribute equally with the bat and ball in hand in the T20 matches.

Joint table toppers of Bangladesh Premier League– Chattogram Challengers and Rajshahi Royals – will lock horns with each other in the 36th match of BPL 2019-20 on Tuesday in their penultimate games before facing each other once again on the last day of group stage matches.

They have both booked tickets to playoffs and the focus will be on finishing in the top 2.

Rajshahi Royals are coming on the back of a 6-wicket win over Sylhet Thunder while the Challengers too won by the same margin in their last game against Khulna Tigers on Saturday.

Rajshahi Royals performance in BPL 2019:

Andre Russell’s fitness situation is a worrying thing for Rajshahi. He has missed their last two games because of an injury. However, he is likely to return to action on Tuesday.

Alok Kapali’s six wickets at an average of 21.83 is the best by a leg spinner in the BPL so far. That speaks volume of the veteran’s fitness and desire, but is also a comment on the BCB’s stance of leggies.

Shoaib Malik has found his groove and looks to have settled well. He made another valuable contribution to steer Royals’ ship to the shore against Sylhet Thunder in the last game. However, it was the opening pair of Liton Das and Afif Hossain who set the platform for a meagre chase.

Expect them to stick to the same starting XI, barring one change- the return of Andre Russell.

Chattogram Challengers performance in BPL 2019:

Just like Rajshahi, Chattogram, too, have their captain Mahmudullah on the injury list, but should be fit enough to have a say in the game.

Lendl Simmons and Junaid Siddique look to be the key for Chattogram. After adding 100 runs for the opening wicket in just 11 overs against Cumilla Warriors, they came up with another 69-run partnership to lay the foundation against Khulna Tigers. Simmons added 36 runs to his previous game’s score of 54.

However, it were the bowlers who had set up the platform for the win, restricting the heavy batting line-up to just 121. Mehedi Hasan Rana and Rubel Hossain picked up 3 wickets each while Kesrick Williams accounted for 2 scalps.

The 27th match of the BPL 2019-20 will see top dogs Chattogram Challengers taking on the relatively struggling Cumilla Warriors on Tuesday.

Chattogram Challengers have been very good until now. They are coming on the back of a comfortable 6-wicket win over Dhaka Platoon. They restricted Dhaka to just 124/9.

On the other hand, Comilla Warriors succumbed to their 5th defeat of the season against Rajshahi Royals with four of them coming in succession.

The Challengers had beaten Warriors in a high scoring match in the first fixture of BPL 2019-20 between these two teams. Cumilla fell short by a mere 16 runs after conceding 238 runs in the 1st inning.

Chattogram Challengers performance in BPL 2019:

Chattogram Challengers have one of the best batting line-ups in the entire tournament. Even in the absence of the exciting Avishka Fernando, players like Lendl Simmons, Chadwick Walton, and Ryan Burl promise fireworks while skipper Imrul Kayes tends to be the glue amongst the before mentioned aggressive players. Kayes and Walton, in particular, have been exemplary with their consistency to score 289 and 265 runs respectively.

While Simmons has been inconsistent, his quality is well-known and a big knock could be just around the corner. Further, the talented Nurul Hasan is also a pretty underrated player who provided good finishing touches to Chattogram’s batting efforts so far.

With the ball, Mehedi Hasan Rana has been the stand-out bowler with 13 wickets while Rubel Hossain and Muktar Ali have also been effective with 8 scalps each. English import Liam Plunkett, on the other hand, would have to step up after being expensive in the two games he has played so far.

Comilla Warriors performance in BPL 2019:

Comilla Warriors are heavily reliant on their batting. There were a lot of expectations around Dawid Malan especially after his superlative performances and he has delivered in some style by being the top run-getter until with 303 runs. Malan had a failure against Rajshahi Royals on Saturday but he will definitely be a big fish for Chattogram Challengers.

Key batter Soumya Sarkar will also need to build on his fantastic knock against Rajshahi as Comilla will miss the services of the prolific Sri Lankan duo of Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Dasun Shanaka. It will be interesting to see whether Stiaan Van Zyl and David Wiese could fill their absence adequately.

Bowling-wise, the Warriors seems to have a good core in form of Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Soumya Sarkar, and Al-Amin Hossain. While Mujeeb has been exceptional with both his wicket-taking ability and also economy rate during the powerplay overs, even Sarkar and Al-Amin would have to correct their nature of conceding too many runs. 

Apart from these bowlers, Abu Hider Rony has been a massive appointment as he has been totally off-color. The left-arm seamer has only picked up 2 wickets until now while leaking more than 11 runs per over on average.

After winning 3 back to back games in the beginning of the BPL 2019-20, Khulna Tigers are coming from two straight losses. The Tigers will be hoping to put themselves on winning track against the struggling Rangers whom they thrashed by 8 wickets earlier this season.
