Europa League Predictions: Arsenal vs Eintracht Frankfurt

UEFA Europa league Match Prediction: Arsenal vs Frankfurt

November 29, 2019,

Emirates Stadium, London

Arsenal go into their Europa League contest with Eintracht Frankfurt off the back of a six-game winless run across all competitions as pressure begins to mount on Unai Emery. They face a Frankfurt side whose 5-1 demolition of Bayern Munich led to the sacking of Niko Kovac, and a similar result in London could see the Spaniard meet the same fate.

However, a win against their German opponents would be enough for Arsenal to secure their status as group winners, and just a point is needed to guarantee their place in the knockout stages. They are 4 points clear on top and only a defeat, coupled with a few other results going against them can stop their progress to the next round of the UEFA Europa League.

Meanwhile, Frankfurt need to better or match Standard Liege’s performances in the next 2 games.

Arsenal’s performance in the Europa League:

Arsenal are without on-loan midfielder Dani Ceballos due to a thigh problem. The Gunners must also assess Sead Kolasinac, Rob Holding and Bukayo Saka, who are all struggling with injuries and may not be risked.

However, Unai Emery is likely to make as many changes as he can, as is his policy with the early rounds of the cup competitions.

Unai Emery is likely to stick to the 4-2-3-1 formation he prefers with chances for youngsters.

Eintracht Frankfurt’s performance in the Europa League:

Eintracht Frankfurt are without two long-term absentees in defender Marco Russ and goalkeeper Kevin Trapp.

Aside from the pair, they have a fully-fit squad to choose from.

They are likely to stick to 3-5-2.

Arsenal vs Frankfurt: Predicted Line-up

Emiliano Martinez; Shkodran Mustafi, Calum Chambers, Sokratis, Kieran Tierney; Lucas Torreira, Joe Willock; Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Emile Smith Rowe, Reiss Nelson; Gabriel Martinelli.

Frederick Ronnow; David Abraham, Makoto Hasebe, Martin Hinteregger; Danny Da Costa, Gelson Fernandes, Sebastian Rode, Djibril Sow, Filip Kostic; Goncalo Paciencia, Andre Silva.

Europa League: Arsenal vs Frankfurt Prediction

  1. Arsenal have failed to win in their last six games across all competitions and the pressure is growing on under-fire coach Unai Emery. They might once again have to be contempt with less than 3 points.
  2. Arsenal had won the reverse fixture 3-0 in what was the first meeting between the two sides. However, things were different back then and it’s completely different at the moment. Don’t expect it to be that easy for Arsenal.
  3. Eintracht Frankfurt have won just 1 of their 6 away games against English opponents but this might be the perfect opportunity. To give them some boost, Arsenal have lost more European home games against German sides than they have against opponents from any country- 6.
  4. If Arsenal avoid defeat, it would see them progress from the group stages of European competition for the 20th consecutive season.
  5. Eintracht Frankfurt have lost 2 of their 4 Europa League games this season, more than they had in their last 18 games in the competition.
  6. Arsenal have scored 11 goals in 4 games so far and are likely to add a few more. They have conceded just 3 but that tally looks set to deteriorate.
  7. Gabriel Martinelli has scored 3 goals in 4 games and should add to that tally.
  8. Arsenal are undefeated in 9 of their last 10 Europa League games.

Europa League Predictions: Astana vs Manchester United

UEFA Europa league Match Prediction: Astana vs Manchester United

November 28, 2019,

Astana Arena

Manchester United play host to Astana in the Europa League game on Thursday knowing a win will secure them the top spot in group. United have won 3 and drawn 1 of their 4 games so far. Meanwhile, Astana cannot qualify for the knockout stage having lost all four group games, conceding 14 goals and scoring just once in the process.

United are the only side yet to concede in the UEFA Europa League this season and are expected to triumph on Thursday even with a weakened side.

Astana’s performance in the Europa League:

Astana are out of the Europa League and it remains to be seen how they will line up on Thursday.

Firmin Mubele is injured for the home side and won’t feature here.

Evgeny Postnikov and Yuriy Pertsukh will miss Astana’s last group game if they are booked on Thursday.

They are likely to field a 4-5-1 formation.

Manchester United’s performance in the Europa League:

Manchester United make the long trip to Kazakhstan on Thursday and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may leave a number of first-team players in England having already secured qualification from Group L.

Axel Tuanzebe, Ashley Young, Jesse Lingard, Mason Greenwood, James Garner and Juan Mata should all get starts on Thursday night, while Solskjaer will also hope to see Luke Shaw and Nemanja Matic make returns from injury.

Phil Jones had a nightmare performance against Sheffield United on Sunday and was promptly taken off at half-time. He could get an immediate chance to make things right on Thursday.

Youngsters like Angel Gomes, Tahith Chong and Dylan Levitt will hope to benefit with first-team opportunities in midweek.

United are likely to stick to 4-2-3-1.

Astana vs Manchester United: Predicted line-up

Nenad Eric; Dmitriy Shomko, Zarko Tomasevic, Luka Simunovic, Antonio Rukavina; Dorin Rotariu, yuriy Pertsukh, Ivan Maevsi, Runar Mar Sigurjonsson, Abzal Beysebekov; Sergei Khizhinichenko.

Manchester United

Sergio Romero; Ashley Young, Axel Tuanzebe, Phil Jones, Luke Shaw; Nemanja Matic, James Garner, Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard, Tahith Chong; Mason Greenwood.

Europa League: Astana vs Manchester United Prediction

  1. Man Utd have kept a clean sheet in their last 5 UEFA Europa League matches, including in the first four this season. No side has ever managed to keep a clean sheet in the opening 5 group stage games of Europa League. However, don’t be surprised if that happens, as Astana have scored just 1 goal in the campaign so far.
  2. Astana have lost their last 5 UEFA Europa League matches while Man Utd are undefeated in their last 15 UEFA Europa League matches.
  3. There have been over 2.5 goals scored in FC Astana’s last 3 UEFA Europa League games. However, United have had just 1 shot on target, that too from the penalty spot, in their last 2 away games. So, don’t expect this to be a high scoring game.
  4. FC Astana have conceded at least 2 goals in their last 3 UEFA Europa League matches and might end up doing so once again.
  5. Mason Greenwood, who scored his first Premier League goal on Sunday, has been involved in 60 percent of United’s goals in Europa League so far. He has 2 goals and an assist. Expect him to continue his run.
