International Friendlies- Argentina vs Uruguay

After beating Brazil in their last friendly, Argentina face Uruguay in another friendly. The game is set to be played in Israel and there are fears the game might be cancelled because of the fighting between Israeli and Palestinian forces.

Lionel Messi returned to the national team following a 3-month suspension with a goal against Brazil. He has been in scintillating form this season.

Argentina’s performance in International Friendlies:

Lionel Scaloni has overlooked Paris Saint-Germain duo Angel Di Maria and Mauro Icardi, while Roberto Pereyra is out due to injury.

Alexis Mac Allister, who was called up, is expected to feature along with Paulo Dybala after the pair both watched Friday’s 1-0 win in Saudi Arabia from the bench.

Argentina are expected to stick to the 4-4-2 formation.

Uruguay’s performance in International Friendlies:

Edinson Cavani and Luis Suarez are both expected to start up front once again, with the latter coming off at half time and the former scoring during the 2-1 win over Hungary last time out.

Moreover, Juventus midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur looks likely to make way for Arsenal’s Lucas Torreira, whose performances for his national side played an important part in the club’s decision to sign him last year.

Nahitán Nandez, Giorgian De Arrascaeta, Jonathan Rodríguez and Darwin Núñez have all been removed from the squad due to injury. The same goes for José María Giménez, who continues to recover from an injury sustained several weeks ago.

They are expected to field 4-4-2 formation.

Argentina vs Uruguay: Possible line -up

Argentina

Esteban Andrada; Juan Foyth, Germán Pezzella, Nicolás Otamendi, Nicolás Tagliafico; Rodrigo De Paul, Leandro Paredes, Alexis Mac Allister, Lucas Ocampos; Lionel Messi, Paulo Dybala.

Uruguay

Fernando Muslera; Giovanni González, Diego Godín, Sebastián Coates, Matías Viña; Brian Rodríguez, Federico Valverde, Rodrigo Bentancur, Brian Lozano; Luis Suárez, Edinson Cavani.

International Friendlies: Argentina vs Uruguay Prediction

  1. La Albiceleste have fared better since their last defeat, a 2-0 defeat to Brazil at the Copa America, and are unbeaten in 6 games, winning 4.
  2. Uruguay are also on a thrilling run of form ahead of this contest. Los Charruas remain undefeated this calendar year. In 2019, Oscar Washington Tabarez’s men have gone W8, D4 (90 mins) and have conceded more than 1 goals in just 1 game.
  3. Argentina have scored 13 goals in their last 4 games of International Friendlies but don’t expect them to score too many against Uruguay’s strict defence.
  4. Argentina have conceded just 3 times in their last 5 games. Meanwhile, Uruguay have scored 7 goals in the last 5 games. Don’t expect Argentina to keep a clean sheet. However, don’t expect Uruguay to run riot either.
  5. This will be 198th meeting between Argentina and Uruguay. Argentina currently lead the head-to-head 89-61 and have come up on top more often than not in recent fixtures (3-1 in last 5). Expect Argentina to grab the bragging rights once again.
  6. Luis Suarez has been involved in half of Uruguay’s goals in his last 8 appearances – 8 out of 16. Expect him to continue the trend.
  7. Argentina had 14 shots in the last game, expect them to atleast match that tally, if not improve it.

International friendlies- Brazil vs South Korea

After a 1-0 defeat to Argentina in a friendly on Friday, Brazil face South Korea Tuesday. Meanwhile, South Korea has already begun their qualification campaign to reach the 2022 World Cup and will hope to pick up a big scalp. South Korea lead their group in the World Cup qualifiers despite being held in the last 2 games.

Brazil’s performance in International Friendlies:

Ederson, Neymar and David Neres are all unavailable for Brazil through injury, with the former’s absence allowing Alisson to start unopposed between the sticks.

Meanwhile, there is no place for Dani Alves, Marcelo, Fernandinho, Vinicius Junior, Everton Soares or Douglas Costa.

Fabinho, Philippe Coutinho, Marquinhos and Richarlison are just four players who are pushing to return to Tite’s starting lineup having all started on the bench in that 1-0 loss against Argentina.

Brazil are expected to field a 4-3-3 formation.

South Korea’s performance in International Friendlies:

Paulo Bento is expected to use this fixture to really see where his South Korea side are so expect a near full-strength team with RB Leipzig forward Hee-chan Hwang potentially an inclusion after coming off the bench in their recent goalless draw at Lebanon.

They are likely to use the 4-3-3 formation.

Brazil vs South Korea: Possible line -up

Brazil

Alisson; Danilo, Thiago Silva, Marquinhos, Alex Sandro; Arthur, Casemiro, Philippe Coutinho; Gabriel Jesus, Roberto Firmino, Willian.

South Korea

Seung-gyu Kim; Yong Lee, Jung, Jin-su Kim, Young-gwon Kim; Jae-sung Lee, In-beom Hwang, Min-jae Kim, Nam; Heung-min Son, Ui-jo Hwang

International Friendlies: Brazil vs South Korea Prediction

  1. Following their Copa America success earlier this year, Brazil’s form has nosedived. Indeed, the Selecao are winless in 5 having drawn three and they’ll aim to up their form with the meeting with the Asian side.
  2. Brazil have scored just 4 goals in their last 5 International Friendly games. They have conceded 6 goals during this period. However, they are expected to improve these stats against the Asian side, even though Korea can possess a big threat.
  3. There have been less than 2.5 goals in 4 of Brazil’s 5 games since winning the Copa America. Don’t expect that trend to finish on Tuesday.
  4. It will be the sixth clash between Brazil and South Korea with all of those contests taking place outside the competitive arena. Brazil have won 3 of those 5 games and expect them to do so once again. Brazil have won the last 2 games.
  5. Arthur is averaging 67.6 passes per 90 minutes in La Liga this season and expect him to pick up a few more key passes here against South Korea.
  6. Heung-min Son is averaging 1.6 chances created per 90 minutes for the Spurs in the Premier League this season despite the struggles of Spurs. He might lead the Asian team’s charges once again.
  7. Since the thumping 8-0 win over Sri Lanka in World Cup qualifiers in which Heung-Min Son scored a brace, South Korea have failed to score- 2 games.
  8. Barring the game against Sri Lanka, South Korea have won only 1 of their 10 games by more than a goal.

International friendlies-Peru vs Colombia

During a busy Euro 2020 qualifiers period, Copa America foes Peru and Colombia take on each other in a friendly. Both sides have struggled to find form and are reeling since the completion of Copa America.

Colombia are on a three-game scoreless run, and they have averaged just 1.2 goals scored per game over their last 10 outings. Both sides are undergoing testing processes for new players and while Colombia have looked better on paper, Peru have the better recent form.

Given the situation both teams find themselves in, don’t expect this to be a highly entertaining affair, a dull game is on cards.

Peru’s performance in International Friendlies:

Peru manager Ricardo Gareca has not made too many changes to the squad that plays on a regular basis.

Andre Carrillo and Christian Cueva have both been left out due to their poor form in recent months.

Peru are likely to use a 4-1-4-1 formation.

Colombia’s performance in International Friendlies:

Colombia enter this game on a five-game winless streak across all competitions (D4, L1) and that run has put manager Carlos Queiroz under pressure, particularly because Los Cafeteros have not scored in four of those games, including each of the last three. They are coming off a 3-0 defeat against Algeria in their most recent friendly match.

Full-back Johan Mojica has been left out of the squad due to an injury. Arguably, the return of James Rodriguez is the biggest news for Los Cafeteros, although they will still be missing Radamel Falcao and Duvan Zapata up front. Juan Fernando Quintero has not been included since he is not 100% fit yet.

They are expected to use a 4-4-2 formation.

Peru vs Colombia: Possible line -up

Peru

Pedro Gallese; Luis Advíncula, Carlos Zambrano, Luis Abram, Miguel Trauco; Renato Tapia; Cristofer Gonzales, Yoshimar Yotun, Gabriel Costa, Edison Flores; Paolo Guerrero.

Columbia

David Ospina; Santiago Arias, Davinson Sánchez, Yerry Mina, William Tesillo; Juan Guillermo Cuadrado, Wilmar Barrios, Mateus Uribe, James Rodríguez; Luis Muriel, Roger Martínez.

International Friendlies: Peru vs Colombia Prediction

  1. Peru’s last four games have ended with two or fewer goals scored in total and, out of their last 10 games, just three have seen both sides scoring.
  2. Peru have won just three of their last 10 games in all competitions (W3, D3, L4) and are coming off a 1-1 draw against Uruguay at home in their most recent match. In fact, they have only beaten Brazil in the 4 games they have played since the Copa America final. However, they might be able to edge Colombia on Saturday.
  3. Scoring has been quite an issue for Peru in recent games, as they have scored one or fewer goals in each of their last five outings. Don’t expect them to run riot on Saturday either as they are up against a Colombian defence which has kept 2 clean sheet in the last 4 games.
  4. Colombia have not won a game since their pen shootout loss to Chile in the Copa America Quarter final. They are coming on the back of a 3-0 loss to Algeria and might struggle to break Peru.
  5. Colombia have scored just 2 goals in their last 4 games, all of them came in a single game. They might find it tough to score against a Peru defence which has conceded just 4 goals in 4 games.
