Auckland Aces vs Northern Knights: Super Smash T20 Match Prediction

Auckland will be looking to keep their playoff hopes alive when they take on Northern Knights in the 26th match of Super Smash 2019-20 at Eden Park Outer Oval in Auckland on Friday. Auckland have built nice momentum after winning two games on the bounce in the competition. Captain Craig Cachopa will be aware that Auckland certainly needs to win their remaining two matches in order to qualify for the playoff of the competition.

On the other hand, Northern Knights have struggled to produce positive results in this year’s competition. The side is currently lying at the bottom of the league table with 10 points to their name. Captain Dean Brownlie will be hoping that the side can deliver a decent show with bat and ball against Auckland.

Auckland Aces registered a 28-run win against Northern Knights when these sides faced earlier this season.

Auckland Aces performance in Super Smash T20:

The side registered a four-wicket win over Central Districts at Eden Park, courtesy splendid performances from Ben Lister, Mark Chapman and Craig Cachopa.

Martin Guptill has been a standout performer for the side in the batting department and currently franchise’s leading run-scorer with 248 runs at an average of 49.60. However, he failed to capitalize on his good in the last game.

Mark Chapman had a good outing with bat and ball against Central Stags.

On the bowling front, the side will be relying on the likes of Ben Lister, Mitchell McClenaghan and Ronnie Hara to make crucial breakthroughs in this all-important clash.

Left-arm medium-pacer Ben Lister finished with excellent figures of 2 for 26 in his four overs, whereas left-arm orthodox spinner Mark Chapman claimed two wickets and conceded just 17 runs in his four overs.

Northern Knights performance in Super Smash T20:

With the side already out of the playoff race, Dean Brownlie-led unit will be looking to produce a positive result against Auckland. Northern Knights will rue the fact the bowling unit was big letdown after batsmen delivered an excellent performance and posted 219 for 7 in their 20 overs.

Wicket-keeper Tim Siefert has been a bankable performer for the side in this year’s competition and once again delivered the goods with the bat. He delivered scintillating performance and finished the innings with the top-score of 74 runs off 36 balls with the help of five fours and six sixes. He was well supported by Brownlie, who scored 55 runs off 29 balls with the help of eight fours and two sixes.

Bowling certainly has been a cause of concern for Northern Knights so far in this year’s competition. Anton Devcich, Anurag Verma and Scott Kuggeleijn all conceded more than ten runs an over against Canterbury.

Auckland Aces vs Northern Knights Predicted line up:

Auckland Aces

Martin Guptill, Colin Munro, Mark Chapman, Craig Cachopa, Corey Anderson, Robert O’Donnell, Ben Horne (wk), Ronnie Hira, Ben Lister, Mitchell McClenaghan, Ross ter Braak

Northern Knights

Canterbury Kings vs Wellington Firebirds: Super Smash T20 Prediction

The 25th match of the Super Smash 2019-20 will see Canterbury Kings take on hosts Wellington Firebirds on Thursday.

Wellington will be looking to maintain their dominance in the competition. Michael Bracewell-led unit has managed to win six matches out of eight played so far. The franchise might give opportunities to fringe players as they have already sealed their place in the playoffs of the competition.

Canterbury Kings suffered a narrow defeat against Central Stags and is already out of the playoff race. Captain Cole McConchie will be hoping that the side can deliver an improved batting performance against table-toppers Wellington.

Wellington Firebirds secured a comfortable 6-wicket win over Canterbury Kings when they meet earlier this season.

Wellington Firebirds performance in Super Smash T20:

Two-time Super Smash champions continued their winning ways after registering a comprehensive 10-wicket win over Otago, courtesy 49-ball century from Devon Conway.

The biggest positive for Wellington in this year’s competition has been the scintillating form shown by wicket-keeper batsman Devon Conway, who is currently leading the batting charts. In 8 matches, Conway accumulated 374 runs at an average of 74.80, which includes one century and three half-centuries.

Besides Conway, Michael Pollard and James Neesham have been bankable performers for Wellington in this year’s competition.

In the previous fixture, Captain Michael Bracewell bowled well and finished with figures of 2 for 32 in his four overs

Canterbury Kings performance in Super Smash T20:

For Canterbury Kings, batting has proven to be their Achilles Heel so far in this year’s competition. Against Central Stags, Canterbury got off to a poor start and was reduced to 86 for 6 in 13.4 overs.

In the batting department, the side will be relying on the likes of Chad Bowes, Jack Boyle and wicket-keeper Cam Fletcher to do the bulk of the scoring.

Chad Bowes and Jack Boyle perished for low scores in the game against Central Districts. The opening pair will be determined to produce decent scores against Wellington.

Stephen Murdoch played well and scored 32 off 27 balls with the help of three fours and one six, whereas Henry Shipley chipped in with 27 runs off 15 balls with the help of three fours and one six.

The only positive to come out from the previous game was Cam Fletcher, who played exceedingly well and finished the innings with the top-score of 65 runs off 37 balls with the help of five fours and two sixes.

Left-arm medium-pacer Ed Nuttall bowled well against Central Districts and finished with figures of 2 for 27 in his three overs. Captain Cole McConchie and Andrew Ellis also picked up crucial wickets for the side.

The 24th match of Super Smash 2019-20 will see Canterbury Kings take on Central Stags on Tuesday.

Central Stags are at a very critical stage with just two remaining matches and any further slip up may see them being eliminated from the tournament. They are coming on the back of a 4-wicket loss against Auckland Aces.

Meanwhile, Canterbury have 4 matches to play and they still have their opportunities at their hands. They registered a comfortable 7-wicket win over Northern Knights in their last outing, a game that saw six sixes being hit in an over.

Canterbury Kings secured a 30-run win over Central Stags when these two sides faced each other earlier in Super Smash 2019-20.

Chad Bowes also scored a half-century in the last game.

McConchie had a great all-round game, adding 2 wickets to his tally of 49 runs and will be the key once again.

Central Stags performance in Super Smash T20:

Central Stags have just a single win in the last 6 matches and are struggling to gain momentum. Christian Leopard was the leading run-scorer with just 27 runs the last match as they strolled to total of 138 runs in their last game.

Kieron Noema, Tom Bruce, George Worker have made good contributions but need to bat more consistently across matches.

Kieron Noema-Barnett failed to kick on in the last match, scoring at a strike rate of less than a hundred and would be keen to hit form.

Ajaz Patel and Ryan Watson have been brilliant with the ball so far and took 2 wickets each in the last game, in addition to keeping the run rate under control.

Canterbury Kings vs Central Stags Predicted line up:

Canterbury Kings

Chad Bowes, Jack Boyle, Stephen Murdoch, Cole McConchie, Cam Fletcher (wk), Leo Carter, Andrew Ellis, Henry Shipley, Will Williams, Blake Coburn, Ed Nuttall

Otago Volts vs Wellington Firebirds: Super Smash T20 Prediction

Wellington Firebirds currently lead the points table in Super Smash 2019-20 and will look to finish off the league stage on the top when they face Otago Volts on Monday. They are coming on the back of a 52-run win over Northern Knights.

But, Otago Volts are their closest competitor for the No 1 spot and they will look to dismantle the Wellington so that they can directly qualify for the finals. They suffered a 5-wicket loss at the hands of Central Stags in their last outing.

The winner of this match not only move ahead of the other end but also move one step closer to directly qualifying for the finals by finishing at the top spot in Super Smash 2019-20.

Otago Volts have lost their previous encounter to Wellington Firebirds agonizingly by just 1 run earlier this season.

Otago Volts performance in Super Smash T20:

Otago lost the previous match against Central Districts by 5 wickets despite putting 184 runs on board. Hamish Rutherford and Nick Kelly came up with quick-fire 40s to build the momentum of their innings.

Anaru Kitchen and Dale Philips came up with vital 20+ cameos to build partnerships in the middle.

Nick Kelly played a good knock of 24-ball 45 in the last match to continue on the momentum built by the openers. He has scored 267 runs at a strike rate of 142 this season and is their leading run-scorer so far.

All the five bowlers used by Otago took a wicket each but gave away runs at over 8 RPO. Skipper Jacob Duffy, Michael Rae, and Michael Rippon are amongst the wickets column regularly this season.

Anaru Kitchen and Travis Muller need to bowl more consistently to help their team bowling department with regular wickets.

Michael Rippon has taken 6 wickets this season with 4 of them coming in the last three matches. He seems to be peaking at the right time with finding his form and rhythm with the ball in hand.

Wellington Firebirds performance in Super Smash T20:

Wellington come off after a clinical win against Northern Districts by 52 runs. Michael Pollard`s fifty steered their batting unit in the first half of their innings. Rachin Ravindra and James Neesham came up with crucial knocks with the bat to help their post a good total of 188 runs on board.

Only two of the four games could be completed at the venue in the 2018-19 Super Smash season while the others were washed out due to rain.

1 game was won by the team batting first while the other favoured the team chasing the total.

1 can expect it to be a high scoring game as 203 was the average 1st inning score while 199 was the average score of team batting 2nd.

Canterbury is currently in the last position in the points table with just 6 points but to their advantage, they have played 2 fewer matches than the other teams.

While Northern Knights are in penultimate position after losing their previous encounter against Wellington by 52 runs. A win in this match will take Canterbury to the third position in the points table and Canterbury can move up with 4 crucial points in this encounter.

Northern Knights performance in Super Smash T20:

Northern Knights are in a precarious position and any further slip up will see them bowing out of the tournament earlier. Tim Seifert, Bret Hampton, and Daryl Mitchell are the top run scorers for the team and need to play a big role in their batting order. Presence of all-rounders Anton Devcich and Scott Kuggleijn give depth to their batting and bowling units.

Tim Seifert has 218 runs at a strike rate of 138 with 2 half-centuries so far. He has scores of 35, 30, 54, & 75 in the last 4 matches and is going through a purple patch with the bat in hand.

Daryl Mitchell is having a good season with 151 runs at a strike rate of 150 and 8 wickets with the ball. His only issue will be his economy rate of 10 RPO so far. He will look to put up some more good performances this season.

Brett Randell is their leading wicket taker with 9 wickets this season. Ish Sodhi, Anurag Verma, Nad Daryl Mitchell are amongst the wickets column consistently but they need to control the run flow to strangle the opposition batsmen.

Auckland Aces vs Central Stags: Super Smash T20 Match Prediction

The 21st game of Super Smash 2019-20 will see Auckland Aces lock horns with Central Stags.

Auckland Aces have won just two of their seven games so far, with abandoned games, and are currently placed fourth in the Super Smash 2019-20 points table. The Aces registered a comfortable 7 wickets win over Canterbury Kings in their last outing.

Meanwhile, Central Stags will be riding high on confidence after beating Otago Volts in their last game. The Stags are currently placed third in the table with 3 wins, 3 defeats and a no result in their 7 games.

It will be the second meeting of Super Smash 2019-20 between the 2 sides, with Auckland Aces prevailing by 2 runs in their first clash.

Auckland Aces performance in Super Smash T20:

Auckland chased down a massive total of 195 runs in the last match against Canterbury with the help of the fifties from Colin Munro and Martin Guptill.

Martin Guptill has scores of 83, 42, & 43 in his last three innings. He looks in good form with the bat and can take the match away in a few overs. Guptill has 226 runs at a strike rate of 160 so far.

Glenn Philips, Corey Anderson, and Mark Chapman will round up a brilliant batting line-up for Auckland.

Their bowling unit are leaking too many runs – they have given 190+ runs twice in last 3 matches. Ronnie Hira and Mitchell McClenaghan are the main wicket takers with 6 & 5 wickets respectively this season.

The likes of Ben Lister, Sean Solia, and Louis Delport must contribute more with the ball.

Central Stags performance in Super Smash T20:

Central Stags were left to chase down totals in excess of 180 in the last three consecutive matches where they managed to win only once. Kieron Noema Barnett, Skipper Tom Bruce, and George Worker scored 50+ and led their team valiantly in the chases.

Kieron Noema Barnett scored 55 runs and had bowling figures of 4-0-26-1 to come up with an all-round performance against the Volts. He has 179 runs at a strike rate of 153 & 10 wickets at an economy rate of 6.8 RPO so far this season.

Blair Tickner is likely to continue despite a forgetful last game where he conceded 59 runs off his 4 overs.

Ajaz Patel has taken 12 wickets at an economy of 7 RPO this season. He bowled a vital spell of 4-0-27-2 to end their losing streak the last match.

Auckland Aces vs Central Stags Predicted line up:

Auckland Aces

Martin Guptill, Mitchell McClenaghan, Ronnie Hira, Colin Munro, Corey Anderson, Mark Chapman, Craig Cachopa, Glenn Phillips (wk), Sean Solia, Louis Delport, Ben Lister

Central Stags

The ground has seen plenty of runs with Otago Volts winning by 13 runs despite putting 210 runs in the season opener and the Aces chasing 195 in 19.3 overs in the last game at the venue. Only 1 game of the 5 played last season saw both teams score less than 170. 407 runs were scored in 40 overs during Super Smash this season’s 1st game played at the venue.

Northern Knights vs Wellington Firebirds: Super Smash T20 Prediction

The 20th match of Super Smash 2019-20 will see second-placed Wellington take on fifth-placed Northern Knights on Friday for the second time in the current edition.

Wellington are currently 2nd in the table with 4 wins from 6 games. Meanwhile, Northern Districts are 5th with just 2 wins from 6 games.

Northern Districts beat Wellington in the first head to head game, their last game as well, by 5 wickets with Daryl Mitchell and skipper Dean Brownlie starring.

The win was crucial for Northern Districts and also the other middle table teams considering that Wellington could have created a pretty big gap with the rest of the teams if they had ended on the better side.

Wellington Firebirds performance in Super Smash T20:

For Wellington, it is pretty evident as to who has been the stand-out player until now. Wicket-keeper batsman Devon Conway has not only been the best player in his side but the whole tournament. With 264 runs in six matches at a strike rate of 141, Conway has combined consistency with a positive batting approach.

All-rounder James Neesham and Michael Pollard are the other two batsmen that Wellington will depend on given that both have scored more than 150 runs this season.

On the bowling front, Ollie Newton has been superb by averaging two scalps per game. Although he has been a bit expensive by conceding more than eight runs per over, Newton is a crucial wicket-taker for his side.

Apart from him, Neesham figures heavily once again in the bowling charts while the likes of Hamish Bennett and Rachin Ravindra form a good support-cast.

Yet, it has to be said that the void left by Jeetan Patel is still affecting Wellington as Logan Van Been hasn’t been at his best. This has caused problems for the side with respect to the 5th bowling option that has seen Wellington try to use the likes of Malcolm Nofal and Michael Bracewell without a great deal of success.

Northern Knights performance in Super Smash T20:

When compared to Wellington, Northern Knights have relatively struggled for consistent runs from their batsmen. Only Tim Seifert has delivered regularly with two fifties from four innings while Daryl Mitchell found some sort of form with a fifty against Wellington on New Year’s Day.

Two other batters in the form of Joe Carter and Brett Hampton have one fifty each to their names but apart from that, there has not been any other big knock.

On the other hand, the team’s bowling seems to be in much better shape with the duo of Brett Randell and Anurag Verma having picked eight wickets each so far. Ish Sodhi and Anton Devcich also ensure that Knights’ spin bowling quality is pretty good too.

Scott Kuggeleijn and Daryl Mitchell have been giving away too many runs but they have also produced a combined 12 wickets for the team.

Northern Knights vs Wellington Firebirds Predicted line up:

Wellington Firebirds

Devon Conway (wk), Michael Pollard, Rachin Ravindra, Michael Bracewell, James Neesham, Fraser Colson, Jamie Gibson, Malcolm Nofal, Logan van Beek, Ollie Newton, Hamish Bennett

Northern Knights

Central Stags vs Otago Volts: Super Smash T20 Match Prediction

The 19th match of the Super Smash 2019-20 season will see table leaders Otago Volts take on 3rd placed Central Stags.

Volts led by Jacob Duffy, have had a dream run so far with 4 wins in 6 matches with their last two matches being won by gigantic margins. The likes of Neil Broom, Hamish Rutherford, and Michael Rae have done a commendable job off late and would be banked upon in the coming game as well.

Meanwhile, Central Stags who started their T20 campaign with wins in the initial two matches have been struggling to score a triumph of late. The Tom Bruce-captained side has lost three matches in a row and would possibly wish to avoid a fourth in the coming bout.

Central Stags performance in Super Smash T20:

Tom Bruce (41-ball 67) and George Worker (39-ball 62) were the top-performers with the bat in the previous match against Auckland Aces. Bruce (218 runs in 6 innings) has been the highest run-getter for Central Stags this season and would carry the onus of scoring the chunk of runs in the upcoming T20.

Dean Cleaver (132 runs in 6 innings) and Kieran Barnett (124 runs in 6 innings) have laid concrete exhibitions while batting in the middle order.

Among the bowlers, spinner Ajaz Patel (10 wickets in 6 innings) and Kieran Barnett (9 wickets in 6 innings) are occupying the first and third spots in the leading wicket-takers tally in Super Smash 2019-20. Blair Tickner (6 wickets in 5 innings) has been one of the vital cogs in the powerplay overs and would look to capitalize on his pace prowess versus Otago Volts.

Otago Volts performance in Super Smash T20:

Volts have a solid top-order in Neil Broom (238 runs in 6 innings), Nick Kelly (222 runs in 6 innings) and Hamish Rutherford (158 runs in 6 innings). Broom is topping the batting charts in the concurrent edition of Super Smash and would look to continue his stellar run in the coming games.

Josh Finnie (145 runs in 5 innings) has been pretty sensational in the middle-order, in fact, he scored a match-winning 36-ball 71* in the recent contest against Canterbury.

Pacer Nathan Smith (9 wickets in 5 innings) would be spearheading the bowling department. Skipper Jacob Duffy and Michael Rae have picked 6 wickets each this season and along with spinner Anaru Kitchen would look to dominate the Stags.

Auckland Aces vs Canterbury Kings: Super Smash T20 Match Prediction

With their first match being abandoned due to rain, Auckland Aces and Canterbury Kings would battle it out in their second faceoff of Super Smash 2019-20 on Tuesday.

Hosts Auckland Aces, in spite of being a star-studded lineup, haven’t performed to their potential and it is about time the Craig Cachopa-led side stands up to the occasion.

Canterbury Kings have been struggling as well and are deservedly seated at the 5th spot with a win, two losses and a no-result under their belt. While bowling has reaped benefits for the Kings, it is their batting that has been a cause of concern of late.

Auckland Aces performance in Super Smash T20:

Opener Martin Guptill (143 runs in 4 innings) and Glenn Phillips (146 runs in 4 innings) have had some successes with the bat in the Super Smash 2019-20 season so far and will look to capitalize from the very delivery at Eden Park Oval. Colin Munro has had a terrible run so far and would be wishing to get back the hitting ability in the coming contest.

Skipper Craig Cachopa (77 runs in 4 innings) has been quite handy with the bat this season and along with fellow middle-order batsman, Mark Chapman would aim to keep the scoreboard ticking for the Aces.

Spinner Ronnie Hira (5 wickets in 6 innings) is leading the bowling charts for Auckland Aces.

Among the remaining bowlers, Pacers Mitchell McClenaghan (1/24) and William Somerville (0/23) put up economical performances in the previous outing and would look to better themselves in the upcoming duel.

Canterbury Kings performance in Super Smash T20:

The batting department would be hoping the likes of Chad Bowes (1,078 runs in 43 T20s) and Stephen Murdoch (1,019 runs in 49 T20s) to put up a stellar run tally on board.

Cam Fletcher (37) and Leo Carter (25-ball 33) were getting those boundaries even at crunch moments in the match against Otago and would eye to emulate a similar show in the upcoming feud.

Bowling wise, Cole McConchie (5 wickets in 4 innings) and Blake Coburn (5 wickets in 4 innings) have managed to get under the skin of their rivals on quite a few occasions.

Andrew Ellis (3 wickets in 4 innings), with his pacer prowess, has been second in command and will look to topple the Aces’ top-order alongside McConchie and Coburn.

Auckland Aces vs Canterbury Kings Predicted line up:

Auckland Aces

Craig Cachopa, Mitchell McClenaghan, Ben Lister, William Somerville, Ronnie Hira, Sean Solia, Corey Anderson, Mark Chapman, Glenn Phillips (wk), Colin Munro, Martin Guptill

Canterbury Kings

Cole McConchie, Ed Nuttall, Blake Coburn, Will Williams, Henry Shipley, Andrew Ellis, Cam Fletcher (wk), Stephen Murdoch, Jack Boyle, Chad Bowes, Leo Carter

After their back to back wins at the beginning of the season, the Stags have now lost two back to back games and will be hoping to turn the tables around soon.

Both Cleaver and Bruce are in tournament’s top 5 highest run getters.

The Stags’ bowlers will also hope to keep their line and length tight against Auckland Aces after leaking 196 runs against Wellington Firebirds. It was the first time the Stags conceded more than 160 runs in Super Smash 2019-20.

Auckland Aces performance in Super Smash T20:

Despite the likes of Martin Guptill, Colin Munro and hard hitting all-rounder Corey Anderson, the Aces have struggled to register a win. The Aces have produced some exclusive innings so far including a Glenn Phillips 106* off 61 balls against Otago Volts.

The Aces will hope for a better performance from their bowlers led by Mitchell McClenaghan. The Aces have 210 and 195 the two games in which they have bowled complete 20 overs.

Auckland Aces will also pray for a complete game and are likely to continue with the same playing with they take on Northern Knights.

Super Smash Today Match Prediction: Auckland Aces vs Northern Knights

The 10th match of the Super Smash 2019-20 will be played between Auckland Aces and Northern Knights on Sunday.

Both teams will be in search of their first win of the season and will be hoping for a complete game after being affected from rain in their last games.

Auckland are currently placed fourth in the points table after two of their three games were washed out following their 13-run loss against Otago Volts in the Super Smash 2019-20 opener.

Bottom placed Northern Knights too are coming on the back of a washed out fixture against Central Districts. The Knights suffered a humiliating 120 runs defeat at the hands of the Districts in the Super Smash 2019-20 season opener and lost their 2nd game of the season by 43 runs to Otago Volts.

Mitchell McClenaghan has been a bit expensive so far but will be pivotal for the Aces in the bowling unit. He will be supported by Kyle Jamieson and William Somerville to keep Northern Knights batsmen in check.

The Knights bowlers were impressive in their washed out game against Central Districts and restricted them to 149/9 in 20 overs after conceding 221 and 198 in their opening two matches of Super Smash 2019-20.

The Knights fumbled while chasing a target of 199 and got all out for 155 against Otago Volts despite a strong middle order performance from Brett Hampton and Joe Carter. Tim Seifert, Anton Devcich and skipper Dean Brownlie will be hoping to set the platform for Hampton and Carter.

Daryl Mitchell didn’t bowl in the Knights clash against Central Stags due to a minor injury but is expected to be back in his all-rounder role.

Brett Randell proved a master stroke against the Stags and picked three wickets in his first start of the season.

Wellington Firebirds performance in Super Smash T20:

Otago Volts performance in Super Smash T20:

Hamish Rutherford must be disappointed to throw away his wicket after scoring 19 runs in just 10 balls against Auckland. However, he might be happy it didn’t cost the team as the game was washed out. He would be keen to play a big inning.

They are likely to field an unchanged side after a brilliant start to the season. Neil Broom and Hamish Rutherford will open the batting with a heap of all rounders following them in the middle order.

Josh Finnie, Dean Foxcroft and Nick Kelly will be responsible for providing stability and lead the Volts in the middle order. They have a long batting unit with Max Chu batting at number nine for the Volts.

Super-smash-2020-Canterbury-Kings-vs-Wellington-Firebirds

The inaugural Super Smash champion Canterbury Kings will welcome 2-time champion Wellington Firebirds on Sunday. Both teams are coming on the back of a failed season. They failed to secure a Preliminary final spot in Super Smash 2018-19 and will be keen to turn the wind in their favour this season.

Canterbury Kings’s performance in Super Smash T20:

Canterbury Kings are the only team to have won the tournament just once. They won the inaugural edition of the Super Smash, in 2005-06 under the name Canterbury Wizards.

Canterbury Kinds had a dismal Super Smash 2018-19 and would be eager to forget it. They had finished at the bottom of the league standings with three wins and seven defeats from their ten matches.

Cole Mcconchie, Cam Fletcher and Chad Bowes will be the key batsmen in the absence of NZ stars Tom Latham and Henry Nicholls for Canterbury Kings in Super Smash League (2019). There will be plenty of expectations on Chad Bowes and Cole Mcconchie, who were the team’s most impressive batsmen last time. Will Williams and Andrew Ellis will lead the bowling assault as Matt Henry and Todd Astle are on NZ’s tour of Australia. Ellis took eight wickets in Super Smash 2018-19.

Wellington Firebirds’s performance in Super Smash T20:

Wellington Firebirds have won the tournament on 2 occasions – in 2014-15 and 2016-17. However, they failed to go past the league stage in Super Smash 2018-19, finishing fifth in the standings with three wins and six losses. They had a very poor ending to their campaign as they suffered four defeats in their last five fixtures.

Tom Blundell, Devon Conway, Andrew Fletcher and Michael Bracewell will be the big guns for Wellington Firebirds with the bat. Conway topped the runs charts last season with 363 runs at an average of 45.37. Blundell and Fletcher are known for their brute strength while Bracewell too did a good job with the bat last time.

James Neesham, who can make a big impact with both bat and ball, is another key man in this squad. Jeetan Patel, Hamish Bennett, Ollie Newton and Ben Sears will be the bowlers to watch out for. Patel and Newton both took 11 wickets in the previous edition.

Canterbury Kings vs Wellington Firebirds Predicted line up:

Canterbury Kings

Cole Mcconchie, Cam Fletcher (wk), Steven Murdoch, Leo Carter, Jack Boyle, Chad Bowes, Will Williams, Andrew Ellis, Theo van Woerkom, Andrew Hazeldine, Edward Nuttall.

Wellington Firebirds

Tom Blundell (wk), Devon Conway, Andrew Fletcher, Michael Bracewell, James Neesham, Rachin Ravindra, Jeetan Patel, Hamish Bennett, Ollie Newton, Ben Sears, Logan van Beek.

Pitch Report for today's Super Smash T20

4 out of 5 games played at the venue in Super Smash 2018-19 were won by the chasing team. Only 1 game was high scoring – with 390 runs being scored in the game – while the other 4 were relatively low scoring games as per the T20 standards now a days – just 1 team scored more than 150.

Today's T20 Match: Canterbury Kings vs Wellington Firebirds Prediction

  1. Devon Conway was the highest run scorer in Super Smash 2018-19. He scored 363 runs, including a century, in 9 games at a strike rate of 144.04.
  2. Michael Bracewell was one of the most destructive batsmen in 2018-19. He scored 266 runs in 9 games at a strike rate of 178.52, hitting 18 sixes and 26 fours in the process.

Super smash

December 14, 2019

Eden Park Outer Oval, Auckland

Super-smash-2019-20-Auckland-Aces-vs-Otago-Volts

The second game of Super Smash League (2019) will see the most successful team of Super Smash, Auckland Aces, face Otago Volts in their season opener. Aces have won the title 4 times and finishes runners-up on 3 occasions. In two final, they beat Volts.

Meanwhile, Otago Volts have won the Super Smash 2 times. The first title in 2008-09 came after the final was washed out and the Volts were declared winners as they had topped the league stage.

However, none of these sides have won in the last 3 years and would be eager to break that drought when they kick off the Supers Smash 2019-20.

Auckland Aces’s performance in Super Smash T20:

Auckland Aces are one of the most successful teams of the Super Smash League but haven’t won since 2015-16. They came close in the 2018-19 after finishing second on the points table with six wins and two losses but lost to Central Stags. They would be eager to end the 3-year Super Smash title drought.

Auckland Aces have plenty of firepower in their batting department with the likes of Colin Munro, Craig Cachopa, Glenn Phillips and Mark Chapman. Munro is currently the third-best batsman in the world in the game’s shortest format and can be really destructive once he gets going. Cachopa was one of the team’s most consistent batsmen in 2018-19 with 223 runs at a strike-rate of close to 150.

Meanwhile, Mitchell McClenaghan was Super Smash 2018-19’s second highest wicket taker with 17 wickets. He along with Ben Lister and Will Somerville will be the main weapons with the ball.

Otago Volts’s performance in Super Smash T20:

Otago Volts would be eager to end their 6-year Super Smash title drought this season. Their campaign begin against an Auckland side which was ruthless in 2018-19.

Volts failed to make it past the league round last time, finishing fourth on the leaderboard with three wins and five losses.

Otago Volts have a few talented batsmen in their squad – Hamish Rutherford, Anaru Kitchen, Neil Broom and Mitch Renwick are all capable of making healthy contributions with the bat. Rutherford scored 227 runs in eight innings last season and finished among the tournament’s top ten batsmen. Kitchen was Volts’ next best batsman with 213 runs.

In terms of bowling, the Volts will bank on Jacob Duffy, Nathan Smith, Michael Rippon and Josh Finnie to deliver the goods. Duffy had a successful campaign last time with 13 wickets in nine matches and the fast bowler will be expected to replicate that form this season.

Defending champions Central Stags host Super Smash 2018-19 runners-up Northern Knights in the Super Smash 2019-20 opener. The League once again feature six competing teams playing in a double round-robin format during the league stage.

However, the tournament has been hampered by New Zealand vs Australia test series as many big Kiwis players will miss Super Smash 2019-20.

Northern Knights’s performance in Super Smash T20:

Northern Knights are one of the most successful teams in Super Smash. They have won the tournament twice while have finished as runners-up on 2 occasions. They won their maiden title in 2013-14 when they defeated Otago Volts in the final at Hamilton. Their most recent title triumph came in the 2017-18 season when they thumped Central Stags by nine wickets in the final. Super Smash 2018-19 saw the Knights topping the points table with seven wins from ten matches to make a direct entry to the final.

Dean Brownlie and Daryl Mitchell will be the ones to watch out for with the bat. Daryl Mitchell was one of the leading run-scorers last season with 323 runs. Ish Sodhiwill lead the charge with the ball in the absence of Trent Boult, Tim Southee, Neil Wagner and Mitchell Santner. Scott Kuggeleijn finished as Knight’s best bowler – 13 wickets – in Super Smash 2018-19.

Central Stags’s performance in Super Smash T20:

Central Stags are one of the most consistent teams in the tournament having won the Super Smash title 3 times while failing in final on 3 occasions. They won their first title in 2007-08 beating the opponents they face on Friday and they again beat the Knights in the final repeat last season.

Veteran Ross Taylor is missing from the squad so Central Stags will rely mainly on captain Tom Bruce, George Worker, Will Young and Josh Clarkson in the batting department.

Tom Bruce was the tournament’s second-highest run-getter last time with 353 runs at a very healthy strike-rate of 157.58. Will Young too was amongst the runs and played a couple of good knocks. The Stags are well-stocked in the bowling department with the likes of Doug Bracewell, Seth Rance, Blair Tickner, Adam Milne and Ajaz Patel. Blair Tickner was outstanding with the ball last season where he notched up 16 wickets in nine matches.
